ISO 9001 is a quality management standard that is in widespread use and of great importance both nationally and internationally. Certification to the ISO 9001 standard is the cornerstone of the continuous improvement process (CIP) in the company's in-house quality management system. It also defines the minimum requirements for a quality management system. This includes the customer requirements that need to be fulfilled as well as requirements on the quality of product and/or service that must be assured.
EN 9100 is a quality management standard specifically intended for the aerospace industry. Essentially, the EN 9100 standard contains the following stipulations:
- Seamlessly traceable recording processes right across the entire supply chain of a product
- Definition of the interfaces in the processes to customers and government aerospace bodies
- Definition, implementation and documentation of verification and validation activities
- Definition, implementation and documentation of initial sample inspections
